Who Would Putin Prefer? Not A Tough Choice
Vladimir Putin and Russia have one objective regardless of who sits in the Oval Office: to promote the interests of Russia by destabilizing and weakening the American government. They’ve pursued this objective through 100 years of Republican and Democrat presidents.
That being said, if Putin had to choose between the America First and the America Surrender candidate, it is irrational to believe he would choose Donald Trump, the America First candidate.
- Donald Trump promised a strong America, militarily and economically. Hillary Clinton demonstrated the opposite.
- Donald Trump promised to support our allies, like Israel and el-Sisi’s Egypt, and oppose our adversaries, like Russian allies Iran and Syria. Hillary demonstrated the opposite.
- Donald Trump promised an energy policy emphasizing America’s cheap, abundant energy resources, to lower energy costs and stimulate industrial growth, all the while undercutting the one-dimensional Russian economy’s major source of revenue: fossil fuel exports. Hillary Clinton’s green energy fantasy failed under Obama and in every country that tried it, devastating economies and impoverishing populations across the globe. And she promised more of this. That’s GOOD for Russia.
Given that Russia’s known objective is to weaken America, it really wasn’t that tough a choice, was it, Vlad?
National Defense
- After the Democrats decimated the U.S. military for 8 years, Trump promised to increase military spending significantly, and to bring levels of U.S. warships and manpower higher than at any point in decades. He promised that the U.S would “greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes.” Who really believes Russia would sign up for this over Hillary’s record of surrender on START and military downsizing?
Energy
- Trump promised to expand production of fossil fuels to lower costs. Hillary’s Democrats pursue policies to strangle the fossil fuel industry and make rates “skyrocket.” Russia’s economy is about 75% to 80% dependent on the export of oil and natural gas. Putin produces propaganda reports throughout Europe and the U.S. to destroy the fracking revolution that has lowered the price of natural gas dramatically, which seriously weakens the Russian economy. Nobody who knows this really believes that Putin would hack the election to tilt to the side that threatens its chief economic asset.
- Russia routinely exploits its position as Europe’s chief supplier of natural gas by announcing dramatic cuts to gas production at the height of winter, as it did in January of 2009 and 2015, to extort money from its clients. Forbes published an estimate that the fracking revolution in the U.S. could end this Russian hostage-taking by enabling U.S. producers to supplant 60% of Russia’s European natural gas market by 2020. Vlad knows this. Trump is a threat to the Russian economy, not an ally to promote through subversion.
